Cool Book!

And it has a forward from comedian Harry Anderson ("Magician, actor, lover of ties") who said about neckties: "They satisfy modern man's desire to dress in art, there's something spiritual, talisman-like about a necktie, and I will someday get mine caught in a sheet metal machine and die horribly."

Awesome ties, great vintage photos, and all for 8 bucks at the used book store inside one of my fav places to buy costume jewelry. It was a good day yesterday right up until the moment when I saw that a Lefton figurine had been stolen from my room at the shop.

G. D. It.

Giveaway continues after I get over wishing bad gris-gris on the thief.

  1. I hadn't seen this book before. It IS really cool! I love books like that - and I think I'll have to get my hands on a copy. We still have a bunch of great neckties that belonged to my father-in-law. I sold a number of them on eBay a few years ago. Thanks for sharing this great book!

  3. Sorry about the figurine Christine!
The ties book looks great! I LOVE ties especially from this era! I am always looking for them at certain thrift shops around here. Not that I wear them, I don't except to weddings and funerals....Some of them are works of art!

  4. That sux. It has happened to me too- I had a lousy month in Feb- didn't make enough $ to pay my booth rent, plus had something stolen and two things broken. Makes me wonder sometimes if it's worth it.
