Too Lazy To Write A New Post, She Grabs From The Past

I stayed up past my bedtime last night watching the Republican "Debate" (or as we called it in our household, "The Mitt & Ricky Show, With Guest Appearances By Some Other People Who The Moderators Pretty Much Ignored") so I'm doing an experiment and seeing if I can import a post from my old blog, Kate Spike's Spot. I really really really love this movie!

"The Green Mile" is one of my favorite movies, and I'm not ashamed to say that after watching it numerous times I STILL cry when they electrocute John Coffey ("just like the drink except not spelled the same") at the fictitious Cold Mountain Prison in Louisiana. One of my favorite actors is Michael Jeter, who did a great job as Edouard "Del" Delacroix (and he did a pretty good job with the always-difficult Cajun accent). Del's hope was that after he was electrocuted, his pet mouse Mr. Jingles would be able to spend his last years in Mouseville, Florida.  Just before they threw the switch, evil little Percy looked him straight in the eye and told him that it was just a made-up story--there was no Mouseville.

I have proof to the contrary, right in my living room.  They got the location off a little--it's actually Mouseville, Mississippi.

Recommendation for a rainy afternoon:  If you haven't seen "The Green Mile", rent it.  If you've already seen it, snuggle in and watch it again.

  1. Missed the debate last night......but I can just imagine the abundant display of lunacy.Heard about actually.
Saw the Green Mile......very moving indeed.

  2. I stopped watching any political nonsense, and my life is better for it. :) Shucks, the news even gets the weather wrong so I've all but stopped watching any news. Ever. Except what sneaks in on blogs and such (I want to be prepared in case a big... Something comes along).

Yes, fantastic movie. I've become a huge fan of Tom hanks. This movie, Saving Private Ryan, Forrest Gump, Apollo 13, Cast Away, and one of my all time favs Road to Perdition.

  3. OK your description of the 'debate' was priceless!! I love the movie The Green Mile and have not watched it in years but think I will get it again soon. I love your Mouseville, just so cute! Didn't know you had a previous blog, nice to see some of those posts! hugs, Linda

  4. I have a feeling that by the time the election comes around in a year or so, we will all be sick of all the candidates. They will ALL say anything to get elected.

Thanks for the little mouse. My granddaughter is going to love it. It came in the mail a few days ago.

  5. I liked the Green Mile too!
Your mouseville is so cute. haha I have one little mouse figurine. He has bubble gum all over his hands. (Don't worry he is supposed too!) LOL
I looked it up and he is a Josef Originals figurine. He sits in the display cabinet with a bunch of vintage Boxer dogs! (Don't worry they like him.)

  6. The Green Mile is SUCH a good movie! Any time it happens to be on, I am immediately sucked into it. I also love The Shawshank Redemption. It would make a great double feature!
