Stuff, Stuff And More Stuff

We've finally gotten over Mardi Gras and La Condo has been sold, so it's time to get back to basics here!  First, a peek at some gorgeous glass, most of which is destined to go to the antique mall booth soon.   I'm getting pretty good at moving stuff out of the house and into the booth, but I can't seem to bring myself to take that pink opalescent Fenton epergne that looks so incredible in the Hey-Wake buffet.  From the left, you see a Heisey crystal comport, Heisey crystal lidded puff box with brass overlay, the epergne, and two hotel butters.  There's also a beautiful crystal Cambridge "Capri" sugar & creamer set, Fenton "Spanish Lace" cake stand and on top of it, a Duncan & Miller pink opalescent "Canterbury" sectioned bowl.  Right now I'm in love with opalescent glass.

From two recent auctions, both of which were in Bum-F**k-Egypt (which translates to way-the-hell-out-in-the-middle-of-the-freakin'-Mississippi-countryside), we see a Fenton milk glass hobnail candy dish, a Fenton yellow satin ruffle rim comport with handpainted flowers, and a Fenton Colonial blue ruffle rim thumbprint bowl.

This Jefferson Glass "Jewel & Ball" blue opalescent banana bowl/relish dish is gorgeous!  In the back you can see a three piece place setting (cup, saucer, dessert plate) of translucent MacBeth Evans Cremax Petalware with the Regency decoration--I prefer the beige Cremax over the white Monax.  There is also a lovely large serving platter that could hold a cake or a bunch of cupcakes.  Unfortunately, when I took this set to the antique street fair last October, the wind blew off one of the cups.  There's nothing like the sound of shattering glass to start your day off right (NOT).  A few pieces of blue Wedgwood, two birds on a perch salt & pepper set, and those weird carved wood people round out the tableau.

I wanted to share this corner of the den/dining room.  That vintage orange chair is to die for, as is the cute Oriental couple lamp.  Not to mention that awesome Hey-Wake buffet, which will look even better when I stop stuffing it full of, well, STUFF.

Miss SvelteStuff came through again with more stickpins!  Sue, you know I'm always on the lookout for sweater clips for you, but the pickings can be slim when you live in a place where sweaters aren't worn very often.  Thanks!!!

I'll bet you're wondering what those stickpins are displayed on, and just to make ya'll a tiny bit jealous, allow me to show you my Daystrom dinette set.  It's now in my kitchen (it was at La Condo) and I still can't believe I got it all for thirty-five bucks!

This spice set will never leave my kitchen--isn't it just too cute?!

Groovy nut/pretzel/whatever tiered holder, Hazel-Atlas serving bowl, two Anchor-Hocking vaseline glass fridge dishes, vintage ice crusher, and beautiful old McKee jadeite fridge dish.
The little pile of blue in front of the serving bowl was a neat find--several years ago Mom and I went to a glass artisan's show in Birmingham--as I remember, the artisan was a doctor who created handmade plates, bowls, etc.,  and this was supposed to be a pyramid of blue glass squares paperweight.  Unfortunately, during the firing process the pyramid fell over--it was put on a "seconds" table at the show and when I saw it I fell in love with this little failure.

Tomorrow, or whenever, get ready for a LAMP EXTRAVAGANZA, darlinks!

  2. Drat! My keyboard is wet! I drooled over every picture. Like going through an antique mall, only it was somebody's house. Yes, that orange chair and the buffet (we'd call it a hutch here in Okie-homa) are worth risking life in prison for. (Aren't ya glad I live so far away?) Can't wait for the lamps!

  6. Of all the things you showed, I love the story of the flopped pyramid! My Mom loved glassware. She thought crystal was so elegant.

Well gee, yeah, sorry you had to sell the condo, Christine, that does blow. =(

But I can't wait to see your lamps! I just bought a carefully decided upon one myself!

  7. You sure have a pile of great stuff in your kitchen, starting with that dinette set and the beautiful cake saver on it! And those stick pins are a real blast from the past. I used to have quite a collection, but I don't know what happened to them, which is surprising because I do believe I was a hoarder even then!
