Pink & Blue & Something For You

First, the "Something For You" part.  As a thank you to those of you who've been following me, whether for FOREVER or just for a short time (up to September 9, anyway), I'm doing a GRACIAS GIVEAWAY.  I'm still doing the 150 follower one but of course that won't happen until we manage to scratch up three more warm bodies . . .

In the meantime, here's how I'm saying GRACIAS:

A really sweet Fenton opalescent glass bird with handpainted roses (it's signed by the artist on the bottom and has the Fenton logo, as well).  All you have to do to enter is leave a comment on this post and I'll announce the lucky winner next Sunday, September 19.  I really like the sanding detail on the wings, too.

Now for the pink.  One of my favorite elegant glass companies is Cambridge Glass and I love their gorgeous pink called "Crown Tuscan".  A few months ago I saw a cute little nut dish on eBay, bought it, and then went to the glass show in Pensacola and discovered that the nut dish is part of a set of four little dishes along with a big covered candy dish.  The entire set is ridiculously expensive, so I've been gathering the little dishes as I find them cheap--they're much more readily available without the decoration but I really love handpainted roses and gold trim.  Haven't been able to find that big candy dish yet for an obtainable price but I did get this 8" oval bowl.  I have three nut dishes now and trying to find #4.

Inside view--some of the gold paint is worn off but that just says to me that it was used and washed and loved over the years.

As for blue, a beautiful blue slag glass Fenton handkerchief vase with a pattern called "Open Rose":

And of course don't forget that cute little McCoy "Capri" planter that will go up for grabs at 150 Followers:

Please remember those who lost their lives in New York, Washington DC and Pennsylvania on this date in 2001.  The government soon designated September 11 as Patriot Day, but there is also a day called Patriots' Day in April that commemorates the battles of Lexington and Concord, the first battles of the Revolutionary War.  Timothy McVeigh decided to bomb the Federal Building in Oklahoma City on Patriots' Day in 1995 because he was mad at the Federal Government for what had happened at Waco and Ruby Ridge.

What a world we live in.

  2. Gee I was going to add to the last part of your post, but thought it best to leave the politics off your blog lol. Huge political fight always going on at my friends chat board as you can imagine ha ha ha so best to leave that stuff, there, and say I adore your glassware here. =)

We love you, Christine, and darn you for talking about expanding your glassware searches to include other things in your last post or two, because I did the same thing, and now I had to add to a collection I didn't need to in the first place!! =D

  11. I love your new look! And I almost blubbered when I read what your Dad wrote. Thanks for the comment on my post about my collection. I haven't been posting about my own stuff lately because my doggone computer fights me when I try to dump photos from my camera onto it. I have to have my son put them on his computer then beg him to use his computer. Hope you had a great weekend at your beach house. Are you still there?
