My New Old Stereo

First of all, let me point out that this is NOT my living room.  It could be, but it's not.  (Hint: two cars are supposed to be in here).  My vintage sewing machine (under cover), the aforementioned record cabinet, and my new 1960's stereo console all reside here, awaiting the day when the pool table is removed from the family room ("Well, I'd move it if you'd stop putting all your crap on top of it," says hubby).  Also check out the lamp, which will definitely be getting a new shade.  I bought the console for $29.99 at the Goodwill.  It does make a noise when you plug it in but it's just this really AMAZINGLY LOUD hum.  I thought this would be a good project for my wonderful handsome sexy super-smart husband . . .

When you flip up the top on the right side (there's all kinds of room on the left to put the lamp, a console bowl or two and oodles of other dust-collecting stuff) you find the turntable for 33's, 45's and 78's, as well as the AM/FM radio tuner.

Look!  Dials and numbers!  Ooooooo!!

When's the last time you even SAW one of these?

Look closely and you can see the massive speakers inside.  Like I said, this puppy can really boom!  Missouri Michael also owns one of these (mine is his "BEFORE") and says the sound is incredible.  I can't wait!

I have so many albums going back to the early 60's--and how I wish I still had my collection of 45's which included "The Ballad of the Green Berets".  The little pink record box I kept them in had a picture of DICK CLARK on the front!

  1. That's a lovely record cabinet!

Reminds me of the olde worlde 50s record player I have lying around, just waiting for me to fix. I have a feeling it's been waiting for night on a decade now!

  2. That looks familiar! I love the style of this console, you really will love it once you get it working. The lamp is a great find as well!

I believe it's the same brand, but slightly different model.

  5. So pretty! I'm going to try
to find a RP this yard sale
    season. I'm always finding
records for, like, 10 for 25
cents, but I pass them up
    because I don't have a player.
