There are a lot of little figurines in my house that I've had forever--I've had them long enough to where I just don't "see" them any longer, they're just "there". I did a major housecleaning the other day before Mike's niece came to visit and started really looking at all the little thingies on the shelf in the bedroom. This little Indian girl (this little BLONDE Indian girl) is chalkware and just too cute with her little bunny.
Speaking of bunnies, from this angle this tiny bakelite (I think) bunny is so shy and demure.
From this angle, though, he's got beaucoup attitude!
These roosters are wood and handpainted. And cute, in an ugly kind of way.
And finally, THESE GUYS. I have no idea who they are or what they're supposed to be, but they are carved from wood--the one with the beard is ok, but the other one looks insane.
Weird.
Love the bunny....
ReplyDeleteThat's one reason I like to trade things out seasonally. Otherwise they tend to get overlooked after a while.
Thanks for the ID on that pink bowl. I suppose I could call and find out how much it is. In this particular shop some things are priced well, others are high, it just depends.
Thanks for visiting my blog too!
I vaguely remember when I was about eight going on vacation to Portugal and everywhere we went, they had painted wooden roosters like the ones you have there.
ReplyDeleteMuch to my parents' dismay, I think I used what pocket money I had to buying as many as I could! I had a veritable army of ugly wooden poultry by after two weeks, when it was time to go home!
And thank you for joining my blog, too! I really appreciate it! :)
I love that bunny! It reminds me of the little "tea ornaments" (I think they were favors found in boxes of Lipton? tea in the 20s or 30s) that were in the shape of little animals. I got my girls one each a long time ago, in a secondhand store ( I wonder where they are! the tea ornaments, not the girls, of course)
ReplyDeleteCame here via The Bewildered Brit and so glad I did!

I think the beardless one ate the bunny! A little scary. He doesn't sit by your bed, does he? He would give nightmares.
ReplyDeleteTwo of my favorite things...chalkware and bakelite!
Happy Halloween!
