H B 2 Me

The yearly blooming of The Lone Amaryllis occurred today, which day happens to be #63 in an unbroken line of birthdays for yours truly. The Titanic hit an iceberg on April 14, and John Wilkes Booth shot Daniel Day, er, Abraham Lincoln on April 14. And then along came Gogie, Pegleg Georgie's firstborn, on April 14, 1950.

The world took little notice, but then as long as I had my wonderful parents, who really cared. I had them all to myself for two whole years until Lowly Trooper Sally busted on the scene. And then Susie, and then Cynthia. Cynthia was unfortunately the first to go, then Mom, then Dad in 2011. I miss them, and I cherish my two remaining family members.

Guess I'm feeling a little sad, being alone on my "special day", but that's ok. It could be worse: Romney might've won ....

  1. Happy B-day and you're SO right about Romney!!

  2. make me laugh!!! if Romney had won,my husband and i would have moved to Europe!!
A very Happy Natal Anniversary to you!!! your Mom and Dad and sister are with you today...just like my twin and parents are with me on mine. as long as you keep them in your heart and will never BE alone....but,i do know how you feel!
your Amaryllis is spectacular!!! my mom loved them and could grow them like no one else...pansies too!!!

Don't be telling me that the Amaryllis grows all by itself in your garden! Up here in the 'North Pole' (lol) these delicate creatures are treated like royalty. It is beautiful. What a lovely gift for your birthday.
