Out With The New, In With The Old!

OK--I'm back and rarin' to get back to blogging and reading your posts.  Much has happened in recent months, some of it sad and some of it okey-dokey but now it's a new year and time to barge ahead and get giddy with vintage stuff.

Going to a fascinating auction tomorrow, in a house that looks like it took on A LOT of Katrina water (I will definitely post a photo because it looks like the kind of house that would packed to the rafters with ghosts)--today is preview day in the house so hopefully I won't inhale too much mold.  I may not be able to buy much since I'm sure dealers and collectors from New Orleans/Baton Rouge/Jackson, MS will be there--you know, the ones with the deep pockets even though they're always the ones who don't want to pay diddley-squat for anything of value.

I'm also getting my vintage jewelry website together so hopefully I'll be able to sell some pieces and sets since I have a TON of gorgeous stuff with lots and lots of rhinestones.  And even if you don't want to buy it's always fun to look at pretty baubles!

I truly hope everyone had a great New Year and made lots of resolutions that OF COURSE you aren't going to keep but OF COURSE have to make, anyway.  I didn't even bother to resolve to lose weight since that became a farce many, many years ago--I can't take diet pills due to my high blood pressure and I know you're kidding if you suggest willpower or self-control or any of that garbage.  I mean, REALLY?.

Finally, I want to thank all of you who sent messages of condolence after Dad passed last month--his funeral was very well-attended by former business associates and his many friends.  My nephew Sean played guitar and his wife Beth accompanied him in song, and niece Corinne wrote and read a wonderful tribute to her Grandpa George.  The one weird thing was, at the end of the service, the funeral director came out and said, "The service is over.  You are dismissed."  Huh?  Did I miss something and we were actually in 5th grade instead of at a cemetary burying my father?  When she did it AGAIN at the graveside, my husband went up to her and suggested that telling a grieving family they were summarily dismissed (which to me kind of meant GET THE F**K OUT OF HERE SINCE WE HAVE ANOTHER FUNERAL HOT ON THE HEELS OF THIS ONE!) was really not appropriate.  Good for him, but I doubt if she'll change anything.

Now, onward into 2012--it's already shaping up to be an incredibly funny year what with the Republicans' Revolving Carousel 'O Candidates and all.

Love to y'all, and see ya back here soon!!!!!

  1. Glad you are going to be back full time. I, too, took a break for the month of December. Can't say I'm rip roaring to get back but will post when I can. I'm a registered Democrat but have voted Republican for the last few election. I have come to the conclusion that some of these people(aka nitwits) will say anything to get elected.

Would love to be at that auction, today I guess. How did it go? We have 'those' characters here to who buy up everything in sight but won't spend an extra nickel on anything. Cheap is everywhere!
A new website too with all that great jewelry...you will have a ball!
    Welcome back.
