Where In The Heck Have You Been, VintageChristine?

I've been here, wheeling and dealing, and guess what? A whole bunch of Hey-Wake dining room furniture is sitting in my living room! Yup, I got it! I've been spending most of my time since we brought it home (and believe you me, that s**t is HEAVY!) yelling at the cat to GET OFF MY DINING TABLE (and swatting him when that doesn't work, except even swatting doesn't do much good because he sort of likes it AND he screams back at me).
Six dogbone chairs.  The seats were recovered somewhere along the line and will definitely be recovered again.

Look at those beautiful wishbone legs.  You can just see the table top that the previous owner varnished and varnished and varnished.  Hopefully we'll be able to get rid of some of it.  For some weird reason he didn't varnish the two extra leaves!  (Please ignore the tissue paper that I flung down on the floor in a frenzy as I unwrapped Miz Ninny's package).

This sideboard/hutch is so beautiful.  The top "drawer" of the sideboard actually folds down and comes out to be used as a writing desk and has four pigeonholes.  Neat!

Once El Husbando moves the pool table out of the dining room I'll set it up all proper and vintage-y and I already know what I'm putting in the hutch--my set of beautiful Floragold dishware.

A mysterious box arrived yesterday from Oklahoma and I need to say a proper THANK YOU to Miz Ninny and show y'all the incredibly CUTE things she sent completely out of the blue.  I LOVE IT when people do that!

AND . . . today's mail included a box (not toooooo squashed) from Australia's Miss Kitty and just as soon as I get off this computer and OFF eBAY I'm going to open it and admire my winnings.   I thought I was finished with eBay for awhile and then I went to visit my friends Barry & Tom and Barry shared some of his secrets for buying incredible vintage glass on eBay for super-cheap.  Curse you for the cad you are, Barry!

I'm taking a s**tload (yeah, I like that word today) of stuff down to the antique mall soon and then off to La Condo where hopefully I won't get into another telephone pissing match with my sister.  I'm ashamed to say I hung up on her BUT I did tell her I loved her before I did it.  Does that make it ok?  No?  I didn't think so, but I just couldn't argue any longer.

I've been reading many of your blogs and trying to comment as best I can but I usually read them off the iPhone and I'm not a thumbtyper.  Stay with me, boys and girls!

Here's the latest addition to my Von Tellingen huggers collection.  Sweeeeeeeet.
Have the happiest of happy Fridays!!!!!!

  6. Oh we really missed you!!! Glad you came back down to Earth a while to post. I was at an estate sale last weekend and what do you know!!! There was a bedroom dresser w/mirror and two four poster twin beds..You guessed it, Haywood Wakefield! Altho it did have some sort of leaf design on it that I wasn't too fond of, but I sure wish I had bought the set. The dresser was going at half price for $250, and I missed what the beds were going for. Was in good condition. I probably could have offered them $500 for all and they'd have taken it. Anyway, glad the little box arrived safely. :) And can't wait to see your dinning room when you're done!

  18. I totally dig the dining room set! I have a mid century set too but mine is not Hey-Wake, but I still loves it! I need to give mine some more love and recover the chair cushions... Got some new vintage curtain that I will use for the reupholster, a la "Sound of Music" style. Your huggies are too cute!
