Silver Sunday - Family Silver

June 21, 1947 -- George and Marian become husband and wife.  He was 21, she was 20.  Life held so much promise.

Mom's wedding pattern:  Towle Sterling "Rambler Rose".  Service for 8.  Beautiful.

This little souvenir fork is marked "Norway" and "40 GR."  I think it originally belonged to my maternal grandmother as she often traveled to Europe and particularly loved Denmark and Norway (plus some percentage of this side of the family hails from Norway).  I believe the pattern is a variation of  "King's Cross".

Now why Mom had a sterling silver cufflink dish with my paternal grandfather's initials is a mystery.  Maybe it was part of the divorce settlement.

Finally, and this has NOTHING to do with silver but EVERYTHING to do with the Vintage Christine giveaway:
Not all of this is going to any one winner--there's a
Grand Prize, a First Prize, a Second Prize, a Booby Prize, an I Never Win Anything Whiner's Prize.  I think I've gone off the deep end on this one, but what the heck--I'm  having fun putting it together and deciding what prize gets what.  See anything YOU want?

Your parents are gorgeous and how happy they looked! You should post a recent picture so we can see how the story progressed!
